
Teacher education program for Indigenous Students
The NITEP Merrit Field Centre, in partnership with Bonaparte First Nation and Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), is a three-year, blended-delivery Bachelor of Education pathway designed to support Indigenous students in becoming educators while remaining connected to their home communities and existing commitments.
This program is intended for self-identified Indigenous students who have completed a minimum of 60 post-secondary credits or who hold a fully conferred degree and are interested in pursuing teacher education grounded in Indigenous perspectives, relational approaches, and community-centred learning.
Coursework will be offered primarily online in the evenings, with in-person summer learning institutes, making the program more accessible for working professionals. The in-person practica will take place in the final two semesters of the program.
